Boy becomes super hero for a day, saves Chicago

Chicago boy becomes super hero for a day

CHICAGO -- A third-grader who was born with a life threatening congenital heart issue has had his dreams come true.

CBS Chicago reports third-grader Christian Clark spent a day roaming the lakefront, looking for dastardly villains to battle, like The Joker, while dressed as a super hero named Super Black.

"I'm going to be fighting crime all the way over there," the pint-sized super hero said.

Members of the Chicago Police Department even escorted the 9-year-old by motorcade to face match-ups against villains.

Clark survived many open heart surgeries before saving Chicago.

"Some nights, I didn't think we'd make it this far," his mother, Marian said. "And that's why it's so important."

The adventures were made possible by the Make-A-Wish Illinois foundation, along with several other volunteers and donors. Chicago police officers who participated in Clark's wish did so while off-duty.
