6 dead in apparent murder-suicide after police standoff in Virginia
Six family members were killed in an apparent murder-suicide after a standoff with police in Virginia, authorities said.
CBS affiliate WTVR reports that Chesapeake police initially responded to a home around 3:30pm Wednesday and officers found a dead body inside the residence.
The investigation led officers to a nearby home and at that home, officers found an armed man barricaded inside, the station reported.
WTVR reports that authorities attempted to negotiate with the man for several hours before officers finally entered the home and discovered five people dead, including the armed man.
The station reported that detectives could be seen carrying evidence out of the home.
