"CBS This Morning" wins Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing

LOS ANGELES -- "CBS This Morning" received the Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Talk Show/Entertainment News or Morning Program on Friday.

The show was up against "Good Morning America," "Today Show," "The Dr. Oz Show" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in the category.

Director Randi Lennon accepted the award at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel.

"The greatest honor of my career was being tasked with launching 'CBS This Morning.' We're kind of the little show that could. We keep pushing forward and we're doing great," Lennon said during the ceremony. "And the whole reason the show is what it is is because of my crew, led by my technical director, Fountain Jones, who's here somewhere tonight. And I just feel so privileged that CBS has given this honor to me as a woman because when I first started in the business, I had no female directors to look up to. There were very few. And tonight, in this category, three of the five nominees were women."

Among the others on the team were associate directors Debra Dias, Ken Einhorn, Patricia Finnegan, Shanta Fripp, Christopher George, Kile Keever, Meghan Morris, Nikki Rabago, Katlyn Tanney and Kelly Volz.
