Caught in the act of impersonating a sheriff's deputy

MIAMI, Fla. - Police say they pulled over a 15-year-old in Palm Beach County after he ran a stop sign and then came to find the teen was dressed in a fake sheriff's deputy uniform, reports CBS Miami.

Authorities say the teen even had a badge with the sheriff department's official emblem on it. Riviera Beach Police spokesperson Rose Anne Brown said the teen had what appeared to be a gun on him, but it was later confirmed it was a fake.

According to the station, the teen, who told investigators he got the uniform from a friend, was taken to the juvenile assessment center in West Palm Beach.

Authorities say he'll face charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer and will be cited for the traffic violations-- not stopping at a stop sign and driving without a valid permit or license.

Prosecutors will have 21 days to decide whether to charge him as an adult.
