Carrie Fisher regrets revealing Harrison Ford affair

Carrie Fisher writes about "intense" affair with Harrison Ford on the "Star Wars" set

Carrie Fisher didn’t anticipate how much attention she’d attract for her revelation that she’d had an affair with Harrison Ford during the production of “Star Wars.”

Fisher, who said she found the reactions “surprising,” mostly feels bad for Ford himself.

“He’s incredibly private,” she said during an interview on the “Today” show Monday. “I feel really bad doing that to him.” Fisher explained that she had given Ford a heads-up about the new memoir, “The Princess Diarist,” before its publication.

Fisher admitted that she was relieved when the three-month affair ended, as Ford was married at the time with two children.

“I wasn’t raised that way,” she said. “But when you’re on location -- this is something I discovered -- everything is permitted. I didn’t know that. I haven’t been on location since.”

Fisher’s latest book consists of diary entries written during her “Star Wars” days -- starting when she was 19 years old.

“It’s very raw,” she explained, adding that she was “so insecure” when she wrote them. “Obviously I didn’t expect anyone, including myself, to read it.”
