California Good Samaritan pulls DUI suspect from burning car

Good Samaritan saves driver from burning car

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- A Good Samaritan was credited Thursday with saving a life after pulling an allegedly inebriated man from a burning car in the San Francisco Bay Area, CBS station KPIX-TV reports.

Aram Harutyunyan was on his way to lunch when he saw black smoke coming from the car in Cupertino.

Then he noticed someone was inside the vehicle and ran up to help.

The man in the car was unconscious, so Harutyunyan pulled him to safety.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office told KPIX-TV the person pulled from the vehicle was suspected of driving under the influence and had accidentally set his car engine on fire.

Authorities said Harutyunyan likely saved the driver's life.

There was no word on the identity of the man who was saved. He was booked on DUI and arson charges.
