Calif. CEO accused of trading sex videos with boys, 9 and 10

SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Authorities say that the CEO of Irvine-based Adaptive Media, Inc. has been charged with sexual assault and child pornography in the alleged exchange of sex tapes with two underage brothers, reports CBS Los Angeles.

Prosecutors say that Qayed Shareef, 39, had sexually explicit conversations with two boys from Virginia and made them perform sex acts with each other. He allegedly contacted 10-year-old John Doe #1 and 9-year-old John Doe #2 using an smartphone app called Tango, reports the station.

They would also be forced to record their sex acts with each other, according to the spokesperson from the Orange County District Attorney's Office. Using a Tango account, the photos and videos allegedly were then sent to Shareef's account.

He is also accused of recording sexual acts performed on himself and sending the video to the victims along with adult pornography, prosecutors told CBS Los Angeles. This allegedly took place over several days, specifically between Dec. 25 and Dec. 29, 2013.

The boys' mother found the messages on Dec. 30, 2013 and contacted police. Shareef was arrested last week after a year of investigations.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

No apparent physical contact took place between Shareef and the boys. Still, based on California law he was charged with 30 felony counts of lewd acts with a child under 14, one felony count of using a minor for sex acts, one felony count of distributing pornography to a minor and one felony count of possession or control of child pornography, with a sentencing enhancement for substantial sexual conduct with a child under 14 years old and committing lewd acts upon multiple victims.

Shareef could face a maximum sentence of 752 years to life in prison, if convicted. He is being held on $2 million bail, according to CBS Los Angeles.
