Man accused of killing roommate, attempting to kill another

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Police on Wednesday charged an Orlando man with killing one roommate and attempting to kill another, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

Shelby Fazio, 23, was found dead at her home at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Her roommate, Bryan Santana, 20, allegedly confessed to killing Fazio by strangling her and stabbing her in the neck, according to court records.

WKMG reports that Santana also allegedly admitted to sexually assault Fazio's body after she had been killed. A motive for the crime has not yet been determined, according to police.

Police say Santana's other roommate arrived to their home Tuesday morning and found Santana washing his hands in the bathroom. The roommate said there was blood smears on the floor from the hallway leading to Fazio's room and her door was shut, according to police.

The roommate said he grabbed his items and tried to leave and call 911, but was attacked by Santana with pepper spray and a knife.

The victim said he knocked away the knife and ran outside to call 911. When deputies caught up with Santana Tuesday, they say he was driving the victim's car.

According to court records, he told an officer he was looking for a Wal-Mart so he could buy a fake gun. He said he planned to point it at an officer so the officer would shot him, according to the records.

Santana is being held without bond.
