Bear mauls man taking walk in Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A 62-year-old man is in serious condition at a Seattle hospital after being mauled by a brown bear in Alaska during a walk in the woods.

Hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg said Danny High of Funny River, Alaska, was in intensive care Monday at Harborview Medical Center.

Alaska State Troopers say High was not armed with a gun or bear spray when he was attacked Sunday.

CBS affiliate KTVA reports that High suffered "major injuries" and was flown to a hospital for treatment, the dispatch says.

Troopers were unable to find the bear.

Funny River is on the Kenai Peninsula.
