Boy, 14, charged in murder of 86-year-old California woman

LANCASTER, Calif.-- A 14-year-old boy was has been charged as an adult in the murder of an elderly woman, reports CBS Los Angeles.

The teen was charged Monday with one count of murder and two counts of first-degree burglary in the death of 86-year-old Annie Margaret Bell. He also faces a special circumstances allegation that the murder was committed during a first-degree burglary and a special allegation that he used a knife.

Prosecutors say the suspect broke into Bell's home in Lancaster, Calif. on June 18 and stabbed her several times while she lay in bed. He was arrested after he was found hiding in the bushes near the victim's home.

If convicted as charged, Brown faces a possible maximum sentence of 26 years to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The suspect is being held on $1 million bail.
