CBS News asked noted figures in the arts, business and politics about their experience in today's civil rights movement, or about figures who inspired them in their activism.

Harriet Tubman walked thousands of miles back and forth leading slaves through the Underground Railroad. Rosa Parks wouldn't even walk ten feet from her seat, yet both played a critical part in establishing the freedom that we as a nation of individuals enjoy today.

My point in referencing this is, we all have the privilege and the responsibility to become a productive member of society.

We should look for ways to improve, not just our own situations, but the circumstances of others by putting our heart and soul into the quality of our contributions.
