Body found preliminarily ID'd as missing Fla. teen

ORLANDO, Fla. - A decomposed body found Friday has been preliminary identified as missing Florida teen Alexandria Chery, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

Officials are reportedly awaiting more tests to definitively confirm whether the remains are those of the 16-year-old, who was reported missing by her mother on Monday, July 28. She said she returned home find her daughter's clothes and bedding gone from the apartment they shared in Orange County, the station reported.

The mother's boyfriend, 43-year-old Sanel Saint Simon, was arrested July 30 on charges of giving false information and attempting to destroy evidence in connection with the teen's disappearance.

On Monday, a felony charge of obstruction of a criminal investigation was added on.

WKMG reports Simon is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday for a continuation of his bond hearing. Orange County sheriff's investigators have asked the state to request that Simon be held without bond. His bond is currently set at $500,000.
