Body found in submerged car in search for missing father

CROWN POINT, Ind. -- A body in a submerged car was recovered from a northwest Indiana retention pond Thursday in the search for a missing father, sources tell CBS Chicago.

The station reports that the SUV found in the Crown Point retention pond matches the description of the Scion driven by 24-year-old Indiana man Michael Hernandez. The married father of twin girls vanished May 1 after watching a Chicago Blackhawks game at a Crown Point bar with friends.

The pond is about a mile-and-a-half from the bar where Hernandez went missing. After leaving, he reportedly called his mother around 11:30p.m. to say he would be home soon. He drove off in the 2008 Scion, and hasn't been seen since.

The disappearance sparked a massive search effort. The identity of the body in the vehicle hasn't been determined.
