Bobby Brown opens up on daughter Bobbi Kristina's death

Bobby Brown spoke publicly for the first time about the death of his daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown.

Brown spoke on the Fox show "The Real" and said that Bobbi Kristina might have lived if he had been with her a few days before.

"If I could have been there two days before, it wouldn't have went down like that," he said.

Bobbi Kristina died in July while she was in hospice care. The singer and daughter of Whitney Houston was found face-down and unresponsive in a bathtub in her Georgia townhouse on Jan. 31. She was put into a medically induced coma for several months, and in April, her grandmother Cissy Houston announced that while Bobbi Kristina was no longer in a coma, she suffered from "global and irreversible brain damage and [remained] unresponsive."

While sitting next to his wife Alicia Etheredge, Brown opened up about his daughter's death on "The Real" and said maybe Bobbi Kristina died so she could join her mother in heaven.

"We prayed and hoped for six months for something better to happen, but when God calls you, he calls you, and I'm pretty sure her mother had a part of that, like, 'Come on -- get her up here' -- in the best way possible," he said with a chuckle. 'She was not comfortable by herself, I guess, and she just called my daughter with her."

Bobbi Kristina's death eerily echoes her mother's, in that both were found face-down in a bathtub, though Houston was found dead. Houston died just before the 2012 Grammy Awards in her bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel. Authorities found evidence of heart disease and cocaine in her body, but determined that the cause of death was accidental drowning.

Authorities have yet to reach a conclusion regarding Bobbi Kristina's death. Police are still investigating the death.
