Blake Shelton surprises fan who missed concert due to motorcycle crash

Blake Shelton is coming to the rescue after a 25-year-old New York man missed out on attending a concert by the country singer after getting into a serious motorcycle crash months earlier.

Jonathan Daniels knew it was a long shot, but that didn’t stop the determined man from sharing his story with Shelton in hopes of one day seeing him in concert.

In a Nov. 7 Facebook post, Daniels explained that he missed the concert at the Barclay’s Center in New York — which was a supposed to be a surprise for his girlfriend, Lindsay Baker, on her 23rd birthday — after he suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash.

“On September 15th I was riding my motorcycle with a couple buddies when a young kid just happened to pull out in front of us,” Daniels said. “Fortunately only one of us was injured. Unfortunately that one person was me.”

Daniels explained how he bounced off a car and slammed into a telephone pole. He was treated at a local trauma center, where he was told he had two collapsed lungs, one punctured lung, brain bleeding, a lacerated liver, kidney and spleen, three fractured ribs, eight fractured vertebrae in his neck and back, and two fractured shoulder blades.

“The police on scene, and the EMT didn’t think I would make it through the night,” he said. “Well they were wrong!”

Now, as Daniels continues to recover from his injuries — with help from his girlfriend — he’s trying to finally give her the birthday gift she deserves.

And after nearly 420,000 people shared his plea to Shelton on Facebook, the country star heard his request loud and clear.

Last week, Shelton responded to the man with a video message of his own.

So this happened today, I am beyond grateful to everyone who has helped us share this and get it to Blake!! He is an amazing man with a huge heart! Thank you everyone!!! #teambug

“I’m very sorry about the accident and I hope you recover soon and you’re feeling better,” Shelton said in the video. “Obviously I’m totally ready to give you tickets to whatever show you can make it to, and don’t rush, for God sakes, take your time getting well and getting ready.”

Shelton said whatever show the couple decides to go to, tickets will be waiting for them.

“I got to meet you guys,” Shelton said. “Happy holidays. We’re pulling for you to get well.”

The pair was thrilled by his generous response.

“I am beyond grateful to everyone who has helped us share this and get it to Blake!” Daniels said. “He is an amazing man with a huge heart!”
