Barbara Walters back with "Most Fascinating People"

Barbara Walters isn't staying out of the spotlight for too long.

The veteran TV journalist, who retired as co-host of "The View" earlier this year, will return with her annual "10 Most Fascinating People" program.

ABC announced Tuesday that Walters, 85, will host a new special this year featuring Oprah Winfrey, Neil Patrick Harris, Chelsea Handler and Scarlett Johansson.

The two-hour program, called "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014," will air Dec. 14.

Walters had said that last year's edition would be her "Fascinating People" swan song, but she now notes, "There are just too many fascinating people out there."

Walters launched the "Most Fascinating" special in 1993.

When Walters signed off from "The View" in May, she told viewers, "Who knows what the future brings? Maybe instead of saying goodbye I should say 'a bientot,' which in French means see you later."

She was right.
