Atlanta house fire leaves at least 6 dead

ATLANTA - Authorities say a fire at a boarding home in Atlanta has left at least six people dead.

Atlanta Fire Department spokesman Cortez Stafford told CBS Radio News that the death toll could rise because there is still one part of the building emergency responders haven't searched yet.

The fire department said that because the structure was so severely damaged and parts of the home collapsed, they were unable to complete their search of the home early Monday, CBS affiliate WGCL reported.

Family members told WGCL that they knew of at least two people who should have been inside the home, but were not sure the exact number of people who died.

The station reported that arson investigators were dispatched to the scene.

No other details were immediately available.
