Arrest made in rape, robbery of Phila. woman
PHILADELPHIA - A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged in the rape of a woman in the Rittenhouse Square section of Philadelphia, reports CBS Philly.
Investigators say Milton Garcia, who was taken into custody Monday night, is facing rape and other charges for the assault that occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
On Monday, authorities released surveillance video which showed the rape suspect following the female victim, a 26-year-old doctor at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, on his bike. He is then seen grabbing her and forcing her up the street and into her building. That's where police say he raped her and stole her keys and cell phone before fleeing.
It didn't end there. Police say the man came back to the apartment later on because he left his messenger bag behind and raped her again.
Investigators say three other men who were brought in for questioning in connection with the incident have been released.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey praised the victim for playing a key role in helping police to make an arrest.
