Anderson Cooper: "Live!" with Kelly Ripa would be a "dream"

The search is on for Kelly Ripa's new co-host on "Live!" as Michael Strahan prepares to leave for "Good Morning America," and the rumor mill is buzzing about who will replace him. Strahan's last day is May 13 -- he was originally supposed to stay until September.

One name that keeps coming up is Anderson Cooper, who is friends with Ripa.

Kelly Ripa returns to "Live" after shake-up

On "Watch What Happens Live" with Andy Cohen (who is also rumored to be in the running), the CNN anchor and "60 Minutes" correspondent addressed the gossip when a caller asked if it was true.

"Kelly is the heart and soul of that show and it's going to go on and continue to be great and I wish Michael the best in his new endeavor," he said.

Cooper continued, "Look, I'm very happy at CNN. It would be a dream to work with Kelly, but nobody's offering anything, so ... "

It sounds like Cooper is trying to drop a hint to "Live!" producers.

Tell us: Do you think Cooper would be a good match for Ripa on "Live"?
