Anakin, Khaleesi gain popularity as baby names

Fantasy and sci-fi names were trendy with new parents in 2014, according to the Social Security Administration.

Anakin, from "Star Wars," became the 957th most popular boy baby name in the U.S. in 2014. The name is an interesting choice, because the character grows up to be one of Hollywood's most infamous villain of all time, Darth Vader. Unsurprisingly, Luke -- Darth Vader's son -- is a much more popular name, at 28th place.

Khaleesi, from "Game of Thrones" was the 755th most popular name among girls. Arya (like Arya Stark from "Game of Thrones") ranks even higher at 216. Clearly, these parents want to create strong role models for their daughters.

Another "Star Wars" name, Leia, also made the cut for baby girls -- it is the 509th most popular name.

"Twilight" also seemed to wield an influence over new parents: Bella ranked as the 70th most popular name for baby girls.

To recap: Khaleesi is now a more popular name than Denise or Ann. We hope these Khaleesis can summon the strength of their namesake to fend off bullies on the playground.
