Amy Schumer talks gun control on "The Daily Show"
Amy Schumer is diving into the gun control debate in a big way.
After the July 23 shooting at a movie theater in Lafayette during a screening of her new movie "Trainwreck," Schumer responded by taking matters into her own hands. She stood with her cousin New York Senator Chuck Schumer at a news conference decrying mass shootings, and just hours later she made an appearance as a guest on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," where she discussed her reactions to news of the shooting. (in addition to her new found friend romance with Jennifer Lawrenceamong other things).

"I was like, legit heartbroken," she said. "To hear that news, it broke my heart.... It was so horrible."
She visited the show to intense applause, talking about her movie and her changes since the shooting.
"The second this happened, you want to act," she said. "I wanted to go down there and do whatever I could."
After the shooting, a daughter of a teacher that was wounded in the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre wrote an open letter to Schumer, calling on the actress to get involved. The writer, Sarah Clements, called Schumer this "generation's epitome of what it means to be a strong, powerful, self-aware champion."
