Amy Schumer gave her waiter a scholarship-sized tip

Amy Schumer's waiter at Peter's Clam Bar in Long Island is as happy as a clam after the comedian left him a $500 tip on a $49 bill.

The restaurant's manager told the The Huffington Post that Schumer ordered a cup of soup and a couple of appetizers when she dined earlier in June. The food might have been scrumptious but the reason behind the 1,000 percent tip was more about the "engaging, animated conversation," she had with her server Ryan, a college student working two jobs to pay for school.

Ryan's story must have struck a chord with Schumer, who herself had waited tables and tended bar in New York before hitting it big and playing Bill Cosby's defense attorney on TV as the star of "Inside Amy Schumer."

Schumer recently hosted the MTV Movie Awards.
