Alleged sexual predator loses foot in police pursuit

FORT WORTH, Texas - A man trying to evade police had his foot severed when he tried to hop on a passing train Monday, reports CBS DFW.

Fort Worth police Monday spotted Victor Ramirez, an alleged sexual predator wanted by the U.S. Marshal's office, and began pursuing his car, according to police. Ramirez was wanted for sexual assault of a child.

During the pursuit, he crashed near a Fort Worth highway and fled on foot, and, according to CBS DFW, police lost the trail.

While authorities continued searching for Ramirez, he tried to sneak onto a moving train, police said. That's when his foot was severed; it's not clear exactly how.

He's in police custody and hospitalized.
