Alleged Molotov cocktail attacker arrested in New York

NEW YORK - A Brooklyn man who allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail into a convenience store and injured a store clerk is now facing attempted-murder charges, reports CBS New York.

Police said Charles Diaz, 35, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, arson and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the attack, which occurred around 1:55 a.m. Wednesday at a 24-hour mini-mart in Brooklyn.

An unidentified 34-year-old male store clerk was injured by the flames, suffering minor burns after his hair and clothes caught fire, police said. According to CBS New York, he was in good condition and resting at home by Wednesday night.

Authorities said that an hour before the attack, Diaz walked into the store and got into an argument with the victim. Surveillance video from inside the store captured the incident and was later released by the NYPD in an effort to catch the person responsible.
