Alec Baldwin to guest star on "Law & Order: SVU"

So much for quitting public life?

Alec Baldwin is set to guest-star on an upcoming episode of "Law & Order: SVU," it was reported Tuesday.

The actor, who recently penned a lengthy magazine column in which he based the media and expressed a desire to get away from the spotlight, will play a "controversial New York newspaper columnist who questions the SVU squad's motives during the investigation of a potential hate crime/rape case," according to Entertainment Weekly.

The episode is being directed by "SVU" star Mariska Hargitay.

"New York City has had a long history of high profile and controversial newspaper columnists, whose influence extends beyond the newsroom,” executive producer Warren Leight said in a press release. "In our story, 'Jimmy Mac's' reporting  interferes with the investigation, which has a ripple effect when the case goes to trial. We couldn't ask for a better actor for Mariska to work with in her directorial debut. Their chemistry on screen is palpable."

Baldwin isn't the only star who'll be guest-starring -- Katie Couric will also appear in the episode, "playing herself as a talk show host who quizzes MacArthur about the headline grabbing case." And Questlove of The Roots is also making a cameo...as a corpse.

You can see them all when the episode airs March 19 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
