MANOKOTAK, Alaska -- A 5-year-old girl from Manokotak has died after falling into the Alaska village's sewage lagoon.

CBS affiliate KTVA reports Daphne Mochinl was pulled out by a resident of Manokotak, who performed CPR and was able to revive her. She was airlifted to the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, where her condition worsened and she later died from the effects of drowning.

Troopers say the girl and two friends climbed under a fence surrounding the lagoon at about 11 p.m. Monday and at some point Mochin fell in.
