Adele says she cried "all day" after the Grammys audio mishaps

So that audio problem that plagued Adele's performance of "All I Ask" at the Grammy Awards Monday night when a microphone dropped onto the piano's strings? Yeah, Adele noticed it, too -- as it was happening.

"I heard it straight away. And I knew where the mic was and I wanted to turn around and lift it up, but I froze," Adele told Ellen DeGeneres during a visit to her talk show this week. "I wanted to tell everyone straight away because it seemed to be a lot of confusion about what it was. I was embarrassed. I woke up the next morning to people in England being like. 'We still love you, don't worry,' and I was like, I didn't ask you if you still loved me, but thanks. I was so embarrassed."

The "Hello" singer was pretty broken up about the whole thing. "I cried pretty much all day yesterday," Adele admitted. But don't feel too bad about her tears, because apparently they were a prerequisite: "In fairness I would have cried if it went really well as well," she added. "If it was a stand-out performance I would have cried as well. I always cry."

But at least Adele was in a good mood during her visit to DeGeneres' show. She also indulged the host by recording a "Hello"-inspired outgoing voicemail message. Such a good sport.
