Academy swears Girl Scouts will get their Oscars money

Despite reports to the contrary, the Oscars team has no intention of stiffing the Girl Scouts.

TMZ put the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on notice Friday with a report that despite Chris Rock's very public collection of more than $65,000 for the organization during the Oscars telecast on February 28, no payment had yet been made. "We've learned the money is nowhere to be found," the website reported after speaking to the mother of one scout.

But a rep for the Academy told Variety that payment will come "as soon as possible."

"Of course we have every intention of honoring our commitment to the Girl Scouts," the spokesperson said. "They were such a highlight, and we were happy to have them."
