97-year-old great-grandmother's visit to Google HQ is the best thing you'll watch today

97-year-old sees the future at Google

Olive Horrell grew up during a pre-computer and smartphone age. But when the 97-year-old great-grandmother was given a chance to have one wish fulfilled, she said she wanted to visit Google.

As part of a partnership with Brookdale Senior Living, her assisted living community, and Wish of a Lifetime, an organization that gives seniors the opportunity to realize some of their biggest dreams, got the chance to tour Google's Mountain View, California headquarters.

"We had no electricity, no radio, horse and buggy," Horrell told CNET's Lexy Savvides, of her childhood.

Horrell got the chance to experience some more advanced technology as part of her Google VIP tour, arriving in style in a self-driving car.

She saw a wide range of the tech giant's products, from drawing with the Google Doodle team to trying out a "smart spoon" designed to help people with tremors.

Horrell was particularly impressed with a virtual reality simulation.

"You mean all the way around? Where are these coming from?" she said as she pressed the Google Cardboard virtual reality viewfinder up to her eyes.

Horrell is no tech novice. She reads on a Kindle, uses her laptop to email, and once called Apple Tech Support when she needed to fix her computer.

Despite being one of the most tech-saavy nonagenarians around, she wanted to learn more about how Google's technology worked.

She was particularly curious about what the "cloud" was. (Aren't we all?) Google Product Manager Dave Lieb explained to her that it was "a computer that I don't have to hold in my hands but I have access to."

By the end of her visit, Horrell told CBS News how meaningful it was to "make a wish and have it come true."
