Chicago man shoveling snow dies in shooting

CHICAGO - A 60-year-old Chicago man has died after he was shot in the head while shoveling snow.

Police say Bernard Monroe was found in the snow around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on Chicago's Far South Side, on the block where he lived. He had a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

Monroe's aunt, Sharon Rolland, tells WLS-TV that he was shoveling snow in front of a neighbor's house, and that he would frequently shovel the entire block. She says he also did odd jobs in the neighborhood for extra money.

WMAQ-TV reports police had not arrested anyone in connection with the shooting as of Friday morning.
