6 arrested in death of man who was bailiff, former teacher

KINSTON, N.C. -- Police in Kinston, N.C., have charged six people, including three teenagers, in connection with a deadly home invasion, reports CBS affiliate WNCT.

Jack Davis Jr., a 71-year-old bailiff who was a former high school teacher, died July 19 from a gunshot wound to the head. He reportedly transported himself to a hospital, but succumbed to his injuries while there.

Over the next five days, police arrested six people in the case, including four adults Phoenix Hannibal, 36; Johnny Ray Sanders, 21; Jaime Luis Torres, 20; and Adrian Torres Lopez, 19.

Two minors, one male, one female, were also arrested.

Sanders, Torres and Lopez each face charges related to the alleged murder of Davis. All six defendants are charged in connection with the alleged burglary.
