5 shot near club where singer Chris Brown was performing

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Police say a shooting has injured five people near a club where Grammy-winner Chris Brown was performing in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Police say Brown escaped any injury in the early Sunday morning shooting. The San Jose Mercury News says the shooting happened near San Jose's Fiesta nightclub, where Brown was performing. Cellphone video posted online by fans appears to show Brown wincing as the shots rang out nearby, then being ushered away by others.

Officer Albert Morales told CBS San Francisco that all the victims are in stable condition with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The shooting took place at the Fiesta Nightclub in San Jose, Morales said. The sold-out event was a private party being hosted by Brown, police said.

San Jose police received a call at about 1:20 a.m. Officers discovered four people with at least one gunshot wound each. They were transported to a hospital and the fifth victim showed up at a hospital.

Morales said police were canvassing the area and still interviewing witnesses. No information was immediately available Sunday on the motive in the shootings.
