4 people shot in 3 different Maine communities; gunman on the loose

BENEDICTA, Maine -- State police say they're searching for a gunman following the shootings of four people in three different communities in northern Maine.

Steve McCausland of the Maine Department of Public Safety said Friday that four people were shot overnight in the towns of Lee, Benedicta and Silver Ridge. There was no immediate word on their conditions.

He said the search is concentrated in the Lee area.

Police say they are looking for 35-year-old Anthony Lord, who is believed to be from the Houlton and Crystal area. Police say he is considered armed and dangerous.

Lord is described as 5'9" tall, weighs 263 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. Police believe Lord stole a maroon 2010 Peterbilt pulp truck with green lettering on the side saying "McCarthy. The truck has a Maine commercial plate number of 631745 and has an orange colored pulp boom.

A command post has been set up at Lee Academy, a high school 60 miles northeast of Bangor.

Anyone with information is asking to call State Police at 207-973-3700.
