3 police officers shot in Chicago, authorities say

CHICAGO -- Three Chicago police officers where shot on Chicago's West Side on Monday evening, CBS Chicago reports.

Communications Director for Chicago Police Anthony Guglielmi said on Twitter that the officers were shot, but all had non-life-threatening injuries.

All three were taken to John H. Stroger Hospital. One was shot in the back, another was shot in the foot, while a third officer was hit in the bulletproof vest, CBS Chicago reported.

Chicago Police department confirmed to CBS News the suspect is dead.

The incident occurred before 10 p.m., according to police scanner traffic.

WBBM Radio reports that the officers were working narcotics. Sources tell WBBM that the suspect was acting suspicious and opened fire on officers.
