​3 charged in fatal stabbing of upstate N.Y. man during robbery

WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Authorities have charged three people in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 23-year-old northern New York man last week.

Police say Nichalas VanZelf was attacked during a robbery early Friday morning at his home in Watertown. Officers who arrived at the scene found him suffering from a stab wound to his chest. He died at Samaritan Medical Center shortly afterward.

Officials have charged 19-year-old Freddie Southerland of Watertown with first-degree murder. Devante Bumpars of New York City, also 19, was charged with second-degree murder. Amanda Camardo, 18, was charged with robbery, according to cnycentral.com.

Police say the trio went to VanZelf's home to rob him.

Southerland and Bumpars are being held without bail in the Jefferson County Jail.
