NY police shoot college student who stabbed woman

POTSDAM, N.Y. -- State police say two Clarkson University students are dead after one attacked the other in an apartment and was subsequently shot by police.

Potsdam police were called to the apartment at 2:15 p.m. Thursday and found a man stabbing a woman with a knife. Police say officers shot the man after he refused several requests to drop the knife.

The man was killed. The woman died at a hospital. Their names weren't released.

Clarkson issued a statement saying students and employees were sent emails about the incident. The statement said police told the college the incident was a domestic dispute that didn't pose a threat to the campus.
