2 allegedly drunk deputies arrested in St. Patrick's Day crash

PONTIAC, Mich. --Two off-duty Michigan deputies were arrested following a St. Patrick's Day car crash involving a 70-year-old woman, reports CBS Detroit.

The two Oakland County Sheriff deputies were armed and allegedly drunk when the 11 a.m. crash occurred, the sheriff's department said in a press release.

"While on the scene of the accident, it was apparent that both off-duty deputies had been drinking," the department said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, treated for minor injuries, and released. The deputing was driving at the time of the crash was arrested for operating while impaired as well as possession of a firearm while intoxicated. The passenger was arrested for possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

Both weapons were off-duty handguns. Their deputy statuses have been revoked and their agency issued equipment, badges, and ID has been confiscated by the Sheriff's Office.
