2 accused of lying about missing Michigan woman

MONROE, Mich. -- Two people have been charged with lying to investigators about the disappearance of a 22-year-old Michigan woman, reports CBS Detroit.

Investigators have received more than 600 tips from the public since Chelsea Bruck went missing after an Oct. 26 Halloween party, but police say at least two of those reports involved sources who concocted stories.

Monroe County Prosecutor William Paul Nichols said 29-year-old Kerri Carr, of Toledo, Mich., was charged Tuesday with lying to a police officer. She reportedly told detectives that her ex-boyfriend killed Bruck and dumped her body in a cemetery.

Ninteen-year-old Harlin Bird, of Flat Rock, Mich., was also charged with lying to a police officer after allegedly reporting he saw two men harass and drive off with Bruck.

A $30,000 cash reward has been offered in the case. Bruck has been missing since she apparently she walked away from a Halloween party at a rural farmhouse on Post Road in Frenchtown Township during the early morning hours.

She was wearing a "Poison Ivy" costume, which consisted of black tight-fitting yoga pants or leggings, a green ivy leaf-covered top, and a long, dark purple wig.

A witness told police she left at around 3 a.m., at the same time as an unknown man, but it's not clear whether they left together.
