Marine killed, 18 injured, in training accident

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- One Marine was killed and several others were injured when their vehicle rolled over at Camp Pendleton in California on Thursday, the United States Marine Core said in a statement.

The Associated Press is reporting 18 were injured, while the Marines say 10 were injured. The Associated Press is reporting the accident occurred during training.

The Marine who died was assigned to the 1st Marine Division, according to spokesperson 1st Lt. Colleen McFadden.

"The command's priorities are to take care of the Marines, Sailors and families of the unit," said McFadden. "We want to ensure the Marines and their family members are being provided for during this difficult time."

McFadden said the identity of the Marine will be released once the family is notified.

An investigation has been initiated.
