1 dead in lunchtime San Francisco police shooting

SAN FRANCISCO-- Police in San Francisco shot and killed a man at the height of the lunch hour Thursday along the city's busy Market Street, reports CBS San Francisco.

The San Francisco Police Department posted on Twitter saying that two officers were injured, but not shot, in the incident.

The San Francisco Examiner reports that Police Chief Gregory Suhr said that two sergeants were flagged down by a construction worker who said a man was throwing bottles at construction equipment.

According to the newspaper, Suhr said the man and the sergeants engaged in an altercation and that the man grabbed one sergeant's gun. At that point, the chief said, one sergeant told the other to shoot the man, who died at the scene.
