1 boy dead, his brother hurt in Houston drive-by shooting

HOUSTON -- Houston police say a 6-year-old boy has died and his 11-year-old brother was wounded in a drive-by shooting into a house as both children slept.

Police are seeking suspects in the attack, which happened before dawn Friday.

Sgt. Steven Murdock says investigators are trying to determine if the shootings are related to gangs or drugs. He did not elaborate.

Murdock says the boys were in bed when gunshots were fired from a vehicle driving by the home.

According to CBS affiliate KHOU, the younger child, identified as Moses Jimenez, did not survive. His old brother, Manuel Jimenez, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Family members say the 6-year-old had just started his first grade year of school.

No adults in the house were injured.

Further details weren't immediately available.
