Vikings' Coach Zimmer Honors Late Wife With Foundation

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has launched a charitable foundation in his name and in honor of his late wife.

The Vikings announced Thursday that Zimmer and his family will host a private kickoff celebration Saturday at the team's stadium preview center across from the venue, which is still under construction.

The Mike Zimmer Foundation will benefit the Twin Cities community and keep alive the "big heart and giving spirit" of Vikki Zimmer, who died in 2009. The foundation's mission is to better the lives of children in need with promotion of healthy and active lifestyles and motivation of the less fortunate to "help them chase their dreams."
