Zebra Mussels Confirmed In Lake Stalla In Meeker Co.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials say zebra mussels have been confirmed in Lake Stella in central Minnesota.

The Department of Natural Resources announced the infestation Tuesday, saying it was discovered after a property owner on the lake found a zebra mussel attached to a native mussel in early July.

The DNR says both Lake Stella and Lake Washington, which is just downstream, will both be designated as invested.

Officials say boaters and anglers need to be careful about spreading invasive species on Minnesota lakes.

More information on zebra mussels and other invasive species can be found here.
