Family Hosts Golf Tournament Fundraiser To Honor Son
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Twin Cities family is working to build a playground where all kids can play.
The play place is in honor of Zakkary Johnson. He was born with a condition that caused swelling in his brain, and ultimately cerebral palsy. He passed away in 2011 at the age of 15.
Zak spent most of his life in a wheelchair, but that didn't stop him from enjoying everything other kids did.
His family remembers him as a kid who just liked to have fun.
On Monday, Aug. 1, his family will host the 5th annual Zakkary Johnson Memorial Classic Golf Tournament.
The tournament is helping to raise funds to build the playground that will include elements of play for children of all abilities.
The tournament takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Medina Golf & Country Club. For more information, visit the Zak Johnson Memorial Classic Golf Tournament online.
