Zahui B. Named Finalist For Wade Trophy

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- University of Minnesota sophomore Amanda Zahui B. was named one of 12 finalists for the Wade Trophy on Thursday.

The award goes annually to the most outstanding Division I women's basketball player in the country. Zahui B. is the sixth player in the history of the Gophers to be nominated for the award. Janelle McCarville was a finalist in 2004 and 2005, and Lindsay Whalen was a finalist in 2003 and 2004.

Zahui averaged 18.8 points, 12.9 reoubnds and 4.1 blocks per game this season on the way to being one of the best centers in college basketball. She was the media's selection for Big Ten Player of the Year, was a First Team All-America selection and was unanimously picked First Team All-Big Ten.

The winner will be announced at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 6, during the WBCA Awards Show.
