Youth Intervention Proponents Ask For More State Funding

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Politicians, law enforcement and youth intervention professionals met Friday in the Twin Cities.
Those involved say there is a growing number of at-risk youth in the area. They met at the Brooklyn Park Community Center to ask the state legislature for more funding.
People like Trenton Washington talked about how he was facing a life of crime when a youth program helped turn his life around.
"I want to go to college and I want to finish high school with a 3.5 GPA and up," Washington said. "And I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. It's hard (laughs)."
Those at the meeting talked about how funding prevention programs saves money in the long run.
