Young Musicians Hoping 'Grammy Camp' Leads To Success
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Thirty-one talented high school students from across the country are taking part in "Grammy Camp" here in Minnesota.
It is an immersion in all aspects of the music business, from songwriting and engineering to video production and vocal performance.
Noah Garvin, 17, from Lakeville, is working on a career in the electronic music world.
"They focus on the technical aspect, the music business, on every aspect if you want to be in the music business," Garvin said.
Instructor Christopher Blood says it's more than just learning to play an instrument well.
"When you are writing music, you're publishing, you're getting rights from that. If you're in the audio track, there's studio audio engineers. There's composition students," Blood said. "There are so many elements there."
The camp is being held at the McNally Smith College of Music in St Paul. It's the first time it's ever been held in Minnesota.
