Xcel Sending Crews To Quad Cities After Winter Storm

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials with Xcel Energy said Sunday that they're sending crews from Minnesota and Wisconsin down to the Quad Cities area of southeastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois following a winter storm knocked out power to the area.

Officials said a storm that dumped between five and 10 inches of heavy, wet snow Saturday night into Sunday, coupled with high winds, knocked out power to several communities. Xcel Energy officials aid nearly 60 linemen, managers, safety consultants and fleet mechanics volunteered from several areas of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Utility companies provide mutual aid to communities after storm damage that results in widespread, lengthy power outages.
