Worker Electrocuted Near Fairfax Identified

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the worker who was electrocuted earlier in the week as a 26-year-old St. Paul Park man.

Two workers were shocked while working at a power line work site near Fairfax, Minnesota on Monday morning at about 8:45 a.m.

Both workers were airlifted from the scene.

One of the workers subsequently died as a result of the accident. On Wednesday, he was identified as Brett Daniel Binman.

The medical examiner's office said that his electrocution was accidental. According to his obituary, he was engaged to be married. His funeral is scheduled for this weekend in St. Paul Park.

The Renville County Sheriff's Office said the other worker was Joshua M. Roberts, 24, of Osseo, Wisconsin. He was still at Hennepin County Medical Center on Wednesday.

The accident happened along the CapX2020 Brookings County-Hampton construction project. A spokesperson on Monday said Great River Energy was leading the project construction and suspended work by all crews following the accident.

Binman and the other worker were employed by Donovan Construction of Ham Lake, Minnesota.
