State Patrol: Woman Pulled From Burning SUV Near Sandstone

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A woman suffered non-life threatening injuries after being pulled from a burning SUV that went off the road on Sunday near Sandstone, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities say the incident happened at about 11:45 am. Sunday on southbound Interstate 35 in Pine County. A 2008 Dodge Nitro was heading southbound on I-3 when it drifted off the road and into the right ditch. The vehicle hit a tree and caught fire.

According to an incident report, four Good Samaritans helped to pull the woman, identified as 67-year-old Francoise M. Hupalo, from the SUV. She suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

What led up to the SUV going off the road is under investigation by the State Patrol with assistance from the Pine County Sheriff's Office.
